Now here's a Portuguese originality of a very old recipe, already included in Cozinheiro Moderno, printed in 1780. The original Capilé Syrup, made from avenca fronds and with a touch of natural orange blossom water, is diluted with water to obtain a slightly sweet, subtly perfumed and extremely refreshing drink. Serve with ice and a twist of lemon peel for any occasion.

If you like less sweetness, try increasing the recommended dilution with plain or sparkling water.

To preserve the full quality of these syrups, the bottles should be stored in a cool, dry place. Always shake before opening and then store in the fridge. Drink chilled.
