This sweet cake, flavoured with cinnamon and fennel, has deep roots in Alentejo culture. It was originally given as a souvenir to wedding guests, and the cakes for the groomsmen were always larger.

Nowadays, bolo finto is eaten all year round but retains a strong link to festive traditions.
